How To Stop A Water Softener Leak
If the source of the leak is coming out of your water softener or water conditioner tank, then you will need to turn on the bypass valve on the top of your tank. The bypass valve will direct the water source to bypass your softener/conditioner and go straight to the home.
Almost all systems have a bypass valve, although valves can come in four distinct styles, each of which has a unique “bypass” process. Please select the valve that closest matches the valve on your system below:
Guide to Stopping a Water Softener Leak
Clack valve in its “ON” position. Knobs facing away means water is flowing to the tank.
To shut down water flow and bypass the tank: turn red knobs a 1/4 turn clockwise so that they are facing one another.
This is the “ON” position for the 5K lever. The lever faces away from the tank and the water flows in.
Turning the lever a 1/4 turn counter-clockwise will force the water to bypass the tank and go directly to the home.
Rotate the valves on the side of the unit counter-clockwise to put the system into bypass. This will stop the water from entering the tank, but keep water flowing to the house. Because the tank is pressurized, it may continue to leak for 1 hour.
Rotate the valves on top of the unit clockwise to put the system into bypass. This will stop the water from entering the tank, but keep water flowing to the house. Because the tank is pressurized, it may continue to leak for up to 1 hour.
